Liposuction/SmartLipo MPX Treatment

Liposuction/SmartLipo MPX in Harrisburg, PA

Many women and men in the Harrisburg, PA area have healthy eating habits and get regular exercise but still have “problem areas” such as abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, or neck. Some areas of localized fat cells do not respond to a healthy lifestyle, often due to heredity. SmartLipo MPX is a specially designed liposuction system combined with laser technology that heats and melts the stubborn fat which is then removed using small liposuction cannulas.

This heat results in removing excess fat, skin tightening, and reduced post-op pain compared with traditional liposuction.  SmartLipo MPX is performed in our in-office surgical suite under local anesthesia. The results are smooth and produce less bruising than traditional liposuction because the laser also seals the blood vessels. Many patients listen to music or sleep during the procedure.

Larger areas of liposuction or patients who require treatment in multiple areas may be treated with more than one session of Smart lipo or have traditional liposuction as an outpatient under anesthesia.  However, 95% of liposuction cases performed by Dr. de Ramón are now performed using the SmartLipo MPX system.

Am I a good candidate for Liposuction/SmartLipo MPX?

Most patients are good candidates for both types of liposuction, as long as there is an understanding that it is not a replacement for healthy eating and exercise. Patients should be within 10-20 pounds of their ideal body weight and be at a stable weight. Liposuction will not address loose skin in any way, so if excess skin is an issue, excision of that skin may be required.  SmartLipo MPX can tighten skin some but cannot compare to excision of skin for tightening.  It is best for people with minimal skin laxity.

What is the SmartLipo MPX recovery like?

SmartLipo MPX makes recovery quite easy. Patients leave our offices with minimal pain and are usually off work for only 24-48 hours. Regular activities can be resumed in about 2 weeks. A compression garment is worn for 2-3 weeks after liposuction to reduce swelling and improve body contour. Traditional liposuction is similar but may require a little more time and patients may experience more discomfort.

Dr. de Ramón has a specially trained medical staff to offer personal care throughout the recovery process. Post-op patients are also given his personal cell phone number to contact him in case of problems or questions.
